What is a total hip replacement?

Total hip replacement is the surgery of choice for hip pain from osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthritis and avascular necrosis. This involves removing the worn out ball and socket and replacing it with special metal and plastic components to relieve you of your pain and give you back you mobility and function. Dr Godwin performs this via anterior and posterior hip approaches depending on your hip anatomy and complexity.
