What is a total knee replacement?
Total knee replacement is the surgery performed for knee arthritis such as osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthritis and post traumatic arthritis. The surgery involves reshaping the end of the femur (thigh bone) and top of the tibia (shin bone) and replacing these with metal and plastic components. Dr Godwin performs robotic assisted knee replacement to personalise your knee replacement and balance your ligaments.
Robotic knee replacement
Every patients knee is unique and the tension on the ligaments matters. Robotic assisted knee replacement allows accurate assessment of the current state of the knee and the ligaments. The computer then allows planning of the knee replacement to ensure the knee is more stable with better motion.
